About Us
CHASE
Chase Shurtz is the founder/director of LA Film Camp and co-owner of Film33 Studios. He began his career in Chicago working with director Trevor Morgan and Dangerworks Studios. Transitioning to Los Angeles in 2021, Chase’s efforts have contributed to a multitude of movies, commercials, and documentaries.
Due to his experience, Chase’s portfolio is a mix of collaborations with big names and cool companies, from Blanket Jackson and L’Oreal to Amazon and ShittyRigs. In 2022, he teamed up with Film33 Studios to set up shop in the West Adams area, bringing his creative touch to the scene.
This unique blend of experiences fuels Chases passion for filmmaking and education, paving the way for the inception of LA Film Camps. Chase firmly believes in the transformative power of hands-on learning, making it the cornerstone of LA Film Camps and underscoring its impact in the dynamic world of film and TV.
LINA
Lina Kraftsoff, a multilingual filmmaker born and raised in Germany, is the Technical Director and Counselor at LA film camp. With a BFA in Cinema and a background in directing, Lina’s journey began at Heimatfilm in Germany before relocating to Los Angeles in 2022.
Renowned for their award-winning thesis film, ‘Colors of a Black Belt,’ Lina has collaborated with industry giants such as Celine, Billboard, and Cozz. As a freelance filmmaker, they contributed to the success of a diverse range of projects.
In 2023, Lina played a pivotal role in rebuilding Film33 Studios after the loss of all its film gear. Today, it stands as a thriving hub for independent productions, embodying Lina’s commitment to fostering a supportive community rooted in respect, honesty, and kindness.
MK
Mary Kate “MK” Douglas is an accomplished freelance Art Director based in Los Angeles. An alumna of Elon University with a B. F. A. in film and digital art, she is a passionate filmmaker with experience from all around the country. Commencing her professional journey in 2019 with NASCAR, MK has collaborated across departments on a range of productions, and expanded her portfolio to include diverse projects such as music videos, narrative films, and corporate video content.
Since 2022 MK has earned recognition as a freelance filmmaker in LA. Her career is marked by an award-winning short film that intricately explores the intersection of art and movie making. In her role as the Creative Director of LA film camp, MK is dedicated to sharing her unique industry experience with aspiring students. Bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world demands, she ensures the camp offers an immersive experience, providing students with invaluable insights and practical tools for success in their future film careers.
